Faculty-in-charge – Prof. Malini Adin
Activity Name – WHEN THOUGHTS FEEL TOO HEAVY – FRIENDS SUPPORT TOGETHER
The Counselling Cell conducted a group counselling session for UG students through a role play activity titled “When Thoughts Feel Too Heavy – Friends Support Together.” A total of 85 students actively participated in the session. Students were divided into small groups of 5–6 members. Each group was given
real-life scenarios focusing on emotional challenges such as academic stress, overthinking, loneliness, and personal struggles. In the role play, one student acted as a person experiencing overwhelming thoughts or emotional distress, while the others played the role of supportive friends. The participants demonstrated how to approach a friend in distress, listen with empathy, and provide emotional reassurance without judgment.
The activity emphasized active listening, understanding emotions, offering comfort, and encouraging seeking help when necessary. After each performance, a short discussion was conducted to reflect on the responses and improve supportive communication techniques.
